THGC hosted the “Hope Through Tennis” event at Everness Hotel & Resort in Geneva, Switzerland in collaboration with tennis club “Mies – Tannay” under the supervision of Mr. Hossein Fadaei, the President of the club and Head of the Environment Department at the United Nations, and Kevin Portmann, the Vice – President of the club and professional tennis player. Many of THGC’s Partners attended, such as Baheya Foundation, the No-Difference Association, Art Daoudi Gallery, Stéphane Péter the Tennis-Point representative in Switzerland, young players, and their parents, and former top ATP tennis players Tore Meinecke and Jonas Svensson.
The day started with “THGC Conference” and a Meet and Greet with Anwar Elkamony. He announced the campaign goals and future campaign activities.
The opening speech was delivered by Sheikha/Azza Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah, Honorary President of the Hope Giver Campaign and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Al-Sidra Association for Psychological Care for Cancer Patients. Dr. Ahmed Bastawisi, Professor of Oncology and representative of Baheya Hospital, the charitable sponsor of the campaign, delivered a speech about the hospital. The former ATP player Tore Meinecke and members of the No-Difference association shared their inspiring stories with the audience. A documentary movie about Anwar’s life story was shown to the audience.
After the conference, everyone joined exhibition tennis matches and Open Tennis Session with Tore Meinecke, Jonas Svensson, Anwar Elkamony, Kevin Portmann, and Roberto Rosales. Young players from the tennis club Mies – Tannay participated in the mini-tournament. Mr. Hossein Fadaei, Anwar Elkamony, and Kevin Portmann presented awards for the participants.
Event Highlights
The next day the Hope Giver team joined the GIANTS Geneva 10K marathon run to support No-Difference Association.
